First topic message reminder :
any one ?
now i am speaking of the current series, although if anyone has seen the original please feel free to discuss as it is nice to compare to the remake.
personally, i love it ^^ . i do remember the old BBC series that aired here in the US on PBS (Public Broadcast Station) now it took me a bit to get use to the changing of "The Doctor"
from series I to series II, i know that's how its supposed to work in the orig series, and in the comics (yes he had his own comic and appeared regularly with in the pages of Death's Head and .. *gasps* Transformers )
.. but on television with different actors .. its an adjustment
anyways ..
comments, thoughts .. discuss

Re: Doctor Who
as it's been a while since this thread was touched. To get us ready for The 60th Anniversary Special, thought i get things restarted with the Doctor Who Anime:
- Spoiler:
"The film is a montage of scenes involving the 'Third Doctor' - the version played by the late Jon Pertwee from 1970-4 - materialising in Tokyo to battle Daleks, Cybermen, the Master and other enemies. The film was drawn and animated by Paul Johnson, who previously released in-progess versions online, but he designates this twelve-and-a-half-minute edition as the 'final' version.
Among the characters represented are two versions of the Doctor's nemesis The Master, as played by Roger Delgado in the 1970s and Anthony Ainley in the 1980s. There are also appearances by the Doctor's long-standing ally, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stwewart, as played by Nicholas Courtney through four decades. (Courtney died this February, and the film includes a dedication to him.)
Much of the soundtrack is taken from the TV series, with Johnson supplying extra Dalek and Cyberman vocals. The Doctor's nubile Japanese assistant Tomo Kajiura (created for the film) is voiced by Sachika Souno."

caught up? good I want to talk about this working theory I have about how the 15th Doctor will help restore the Time Lords.Bad Wolf wrote:I hope every has had a chance to catch up with the new specials, if not or need a refresher, check out this nifty New to Who? series by Tyrell Charles:
- Spoiler:
- During the 13th Doctor's series it was revealed that the Time Lords were not originally regenerating immortals, that this ability was grafted into their DNA from experiments done on the "Timeless Child", who of course turns out to be none other than the Doctor; we're also introduced to a pre-one Doctor, or (what I've called Doctor Zero (aka "Ruth")), the series/fandom calls The Fugitive Doctor:
The Fugitive Doctor was an incarnation of the Doctor who, against her will, worked for the Division on behalf of Gallifrey until she tried to desert her responsibilities, becoming a fugitive. (this is a recurring theme, yes?).
The revelation that there was a Doctor or Doctors prior to the 1st Doctor and that the very power of regeneration was taken from the Doctor leads The Master to destroy Gallifrey, create the Cyber Masters (Cybermen/Time Lord hybrids), and a fatal confrontation with The Doctor, were The Master forces The Doctor to regenerate as The Master.
The Doctor eventually is restored but during the time their consciousness was buried by The Master's, the 13th Doctor had a "soul searching" chat with their past selves, including The 8th Doctor.
Interesting enough, or technically while this is/was happening to the 13th Doctor, the 8th Doctor was involved in a multi-universe adventure involving the 12th Doctor and (the) Bad Wolf:
During the Empire of the Wolf Series we see that Rose and John Smith (aka Corin The Meta-Crisis Doctor, a human-Time Lord hybrid of the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble who was created by an instantaneous biological meta-crisis and was the final result of the Tenth Doctor's aborted regeneration.), have a child together, named Mia:
It was later confirmed via The Doctor Who Instagram account that Donna's child (roughly the same age as Mia) is named Rose (Noble), revealing they were named after/in memory of Rose (Tyler).
During the 60th anniversary special the 14th Doctor, wearing the 10th Doctor's face, has to restore The Doctor Donna in order to save London (and the World). The restoration of the Doctor Donna, which was to be fatal to Donna ended up not only having the opposite effect, but as the meta-crisis regeneration energy was split between Donna and Rose Noble, I believe it was also share with the Meta-Crisis Doctor (and subsequently Mia), which is why the 14th Doctor has the 10th Doctor's face and what enable the bi-regeneration of the 15th Doctor.
In 2023's Christmas Special, the Doctor mentions that they just recently learned they were adopted, that they really did not know where they came from or from who. This convergence of coincidence creates a rift in time big enough to allow the Goblins to go back to take Ruby and change the present in motion around the Doctor.
The Doctor manages to save Ruby, but now has more questions than answers. The search for Ruby's biological parents, her connection to the Doctor and the final fate of The Master I believe will lead to the 15th Doctor restoring the Time Lords; that Rose Noble and Mia Smith-Tyler will have key parts.

Thank you for sharing. One of my all-time favorite Doctor Who episodes made it into this anthology mini-webisode series.
Robert McElwaine wrote:The Curse of Fenric
The Doctor and Ace arrive at a Naval base on the cost of Northumerland towards the end of World War II. The Time lord and his young companion pretend to be from the war office. The purpose of which is that the Doctor wishes to meet the wheelchair bound Dr. Judson who's work at breaking German Cyphers is very important to the war effort. This is achieved through the use of the Ultima machine. An invention of the crippled genius's. Unknown however to the Doctor, Ace and Judson. A platoon of Russian soldiers lead by Captain Sorin have secretly arrived on the coast of Northumberland. Their goal: To steal the Ultima Machine. But unknown to the Doctor. The theft of the Ultima Machine has been partly devised by Commander Millington. The bases supreme commanding officer. A ruthless, military man who is unnaturally obsessed with Norse Mythology. For centuries ago a Viking ship moored on the very shores, next to where the base stands. Carrying with it an evil curse. The Time Lord soon realize he and everyone else on the base is embroiled in a deadly game. One that began centuries ago and will finally come to an end on the shores of England.

and they did not disappoint. my thoughts on Ruby's origin and the connection to the Doctor below/spoilers ahead if you're not caught up:
- Spoiler:
As always the Doctor offers to take Ruby to any place, any time and in show-off fashion takes Ruby to the Jurassic period (forgive me i am not a paleontologists and do not know which specific period of Dinosaur they visited), this brief moment in the episode is important as it re-establishes Ruby's reality altering powers as she makes a comment to the Doctor about what happens if she steps on a butterfly and the Doctor laughs it off, Ruby steps on a butterfly and right before his eyes, she is now Rubathon Blue of the 57th Hemisphere Hatchling. The Doctor stunned, quickly acts to revive the butterfly and once alive again, the butterfly flies off and Ruby is Ruby. The Doctor makes a mental note of this and quickly rushed them back to the T.A.R.D.I.S. and take Ruby to the far future (21506).
When the Doctor and Ruby were running through the birthing station looking for the ship's "Nanny" the Doctor and Ruby suddenly share a memory of the night Ruby was left at the church on Christmas Eve, except this time, the lady who dropped Ruby off (presumably her mother), stops and points at the Doctor [This did not happen in the original timeline]. Then as suddenly as the memory is experienced, it starts to snow in the space station, and not just any snow, the very snow from the night Ruby was born/found.
The Doctor makes a remark half brushing aside the experience to keep them focused on finding the ship's Nanny and discovering the secret to what they encountered below decks when they 1st arrived. Once the "space babies" are saved and surface level mystery resolved the pair depart and head back to the T.A.R.D.I.S., where the Doctor proceeds to ask Ruby to travel with him full time, tells her he can take her home anytime, takes her back, and begins to set the T.A.R.D.I.S. to start scanning her (Ruby).
In the The Devil's Chord, the Maestro breaks the Fourth Wall several times, even playing the bars of the show's theme on the piano.
When the Maestro captures Ruby about to consume the music from her soul, Ruby's Song starts playing with out Ruby's knowledge, surprising both the Doctor and the Maestro growling at the Doctor "There's something very wrong with this creature!" then discovering that 'The One that Waits' was there the night Ruby was left at the church.
Susan Twist is the actress who is seen in the background during the Church on Ruby Road and the Wild Blue Yonder appears in both Space Babies and Devil's Chord. While Susan Twist is the IRL name of the actress, Susan was also the name of the Doctor's granddaughter. The Doctor even winks at the camera at the end when he teases "There's Always a Twist at the End,".
my running theory is that Ruby is either the Daughter of the Doctor's Granddaughter (Susan's Daughter) or a previous incarnation of the Doctor, before they were the Doctor, as the parallels established between Ruby's origin compared to the Doctor and in previous series its been established should a past and future Doctor meet or cross their own timeline/disrupt events across their own timeline all of reality instantly changes.

- Spoiler:
- In Boom, Ruby is injured and in need of medical attention. while the medical droid (which has the face of Susan Twist projected on the front of it) is trying to locate Ruby's next of kin and determine to render medical assistance, snow starts to fall and not just any snow, but the exact snow from the night Ruby was left at the church. Additionally, the medical droid cannot locate any known relatives or next of kin for Ruby.
When The Doctor and Ruby arrive in Wales, everything is fine until The Doctor walks through a Fairie Circle, and Ruby start picking up items out of it. This enacts a spell where The Doctor is no longer around leaving Ruby (and the world) on their own. When Ruby reaches out to Unit for help, Kate Bishop drops the line "I think this timeline might be suspended along your event.".. now this really caught my ear as Unit is now actively aware and monitoring timeline shifts(?)
Kate was correct, the timeline was suspended along Ruby's personal timeline, which we see at the end when she comes full circle and stops her and The Doctor from breaking the circle, The Doctor unaware that the timeline had changed and been changed back.
Other than some really good subtle social commentary, Dot and Bubble does not offer much in the way of Ruby's backstory or origin, however at one brief moment we see Lindy Pepper-Bean's mother ( "Susan"), which finally gets Ruby's and The Doctor's attention.

- Spoiler:
when The Doctor confronts The Rogue, they proceed to go to each others ships. The Rogue does not recognize the TARDIS and The Doctor does not recognize The Rogue's ship, yet its interior console has a very familiar design and its technology is 100% backwards compatible with The Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver, the ship even scans it and IDs it as a "screwdriver".
The Rogue then proceeds to scan The Doctor ultimately revealing The Doctor's previous incarnations, including those which were previously considered "non-cannon". Upon seeing this, The Rogue drops the trap, frees The Doctor and they proceed to try and stop the Chuldur.
The episode ends with The Rogue having to sacrifice themselves in order to save Ruby, leaving their fate uncertain as they descend through a time triangle to where The Rogue was originally going to send The Doctor - presumable to their death ~ however, based on their previous conversation upon their initial meeting, The Rogue is a time traveling bounty hunter, they originally thought there was only one Chuldur, they implied that while death was to be the end result for "their [the Chuldur] crimes", they were sending The Doctor to meet their new boss.
While this may lead you to think "The Boss" from 'Beep the Meep', i believe its a reference to Gat or another from Division (who we 1st meet in 'Fugitive of the Judoon').
with the inclusion of The Morbius Doctors, this leads me to think that The Doctor and subsequently Ruby are children of Hecuba, The Queen of Time. (oh and the Kate Stewart we see in 'The Giggle' and the up coming 'The Legend of Ruby Sunday' is not Kate but The Rani, especially as The Master is rumored to be returning wearing the face of The Third Doctor).

Today's episode 'The Legend of Ruby Sunday' did not disappoint. while it did not give us confirmation on who Ruby's mother is, it did confirm who Susan Twist and "The one who waits" was:
-------------------------------------
Next week is the second part, 'Empire of Death':
The Doctor has lost, his ageless enemy reigns supreme, and a shadow is falling over creation. Nothing can stop the devastation... except, perhaps, one woman.
- Spoiler:
turns out, Ms. Twist was a "red herring" all along, leading us the viewer and The Doctor in one direction while the whole time, the twist, was that they were one of the harbingers of Sutekh (The one who waits)Bad Wolf wrote:Susan Twist is the actress who is seen in the background during the Church on Ruby Road and the Wild Blue Yonder appears in both Space Babies and Devil's Chord. who is Sutekh?
Sutekh, also known as Sutekh the Destroyer was an Osiran who planned to destroy all life in the universe. He feared all forms of life which might one day challenge his hegemony, and so became the destroyer of all living things.
"The burial chamber of the alien Osiran Sutekh, inspired by the Egyptian god Set, is unearthed by the archaeology professor Marcus Scarman. Alive but immobilised, Sutekh seeks his freedom by using Professor Scarman as his servant to destroy the jewel in a pyramid on Mars which is keeping him prisoner...
...The Doctor and Sarah return to the Priory and use a module from the TARDIS to extend the terminus of the time tunnel into the far future, resulting in Sutekh dying of old age before reaching the end. However, the portal then overloads, and he and Sarah Jane flee into the TARDIS as the priory is consumed in flames."

something caught my ear at the end of the episode
- Spoiler:
- as Sutekh is introducing himself, he starts to list off all the other "gods" of the Pantheon of Discord:
"But who am I?
There is the Toymaker, the god of games. There is Trickster, the god of traps. There is Maestro, the god of music.
There is Reprobate, the god of spite.
There is the Mara, the god of beasts.
and the Threefold Deity of Malice and Mischief and Misery.
... There are gods of Skin and Shame and Secrets.
There is Incensor the god of disaster and her children, called Doubt and Dread.
and standing on high is the mother and father and other of them all.
... For the god of all gods has returned and his names are many. His name has been Set and Seth and Sithifer and his one true name for evermore is... Sutekh!"
someone or something was forgotten about.. Time (well it wasn't actually called out as such, i heard it as "and standing on high is the mother and father and other of them all"):
The embodiment of Time was an Eternal of the Menti Celesti, the goddesses of Gallifrey. Although worshiped on Gallifrey, where they took on a female form, Time was also worshiped by other cultures and was able to take on many forms.
Time, like all the Menti Celesti, acted as a living embodiment of cosmic principles. They were imprisoned by the Division in the Temple of Atropos during the final days of the Dark Times, and became limited in their capacity to manifest outside of their prison.
There also an entity called the Father of Time. He is said to personified Time even before the Time Lords' inception, but was also, somehow, a future incarnation of the Doctor. (insert timeless child bi-regenerated)
When The Doctor defeated Hecuba, they trapped her in a time loop with her monstrous henchmen, Snap and Dragon, and Marie Antoinette for the rest of time. Hecuba screams of getting her revenge as the halls of her realm begin to crumble. (The one who waits).
Somewhere outside our universe, she is waiting. A god-like immortal, living in a realm of clocks. The hours tick slowly by as she plots and plans. She is readying her trap. A trap for a very special man in a very special police box. Hecuba has all the time in the world. But for the Doctor, time is running out.

Re: Doctor Who
--------------------------------Bad Wolf wrote:Today's episode 'The Legend of Ruby Sunday' did not disappoint. while it did not give us confirmation on who Ruby's mother is, it did confirm who Susan Twist and "The one who waits" was:
- Spoiler:
turns out, Ms. While Susan Twist is the IRL name of the actress, Susan was also the name of the Doctor's granddaughter. The Doctor even winks at the camera at the end when he teases "There's Always a Twist at the End,".
who is Sutekh?
-------------------------------------
Next week is the second part, 'Empire of Death':
The Doctor has lost, his ageless enemy reigns supreme, and a shadow is falling over creation. Nothing can stop the devastation... except, perhaps, one woman.~ nem
- Spoiler:
Bad Wolf wrote:my running theory is that Ruby is either the Daughter of the Doctor's Granddaughter (Susan's Daughter) or a previous incarnation of the Doctor, before they were the Doctor, as the parallels established between Ruby's origin compared to the Doctor and in previous series its been established should a past and future Doctor meet or cross their own timeline/disrupt events across their own timeline all of reality instantly changes.
Ruby's mother has been revealed (or has she?):
- Spoiler:
- when the identity of Ruby's mom is finally revealed, The Doctor says:
“She was important... because we think she's important. That's how everything happens - every war, every religion, every love story. We invest things with significance. So while the whole of creation was turning around her, it made her sheer existence more powerful than Time Lords and gods. In the end, the most important person in the universe... was the most ordinary. A scared little girl... making her baby safe.”
and the episode ends with The Doctor taking Ruby, and her mom back to her family were we see them catching up looking through photos of when Ruby was a baby. The Doctor is back in the TARDIS and is about to take off when Ruby comes in, tries to convince The Doctor to "stay" but when The Doctor says he'll be back, Ruby reminds him about his granddaughter:
Ruby: Your own granddaughter. You left her and never went back. The Doctor: And that was my mistake. Maybe I'll find her again, one day. But you, Ruby Sunday, I will see again. Because you changed me. I talk about family in a way that I never did before. That's because of you. You have made my life bigger and better. And now, Ruby Sunday... goodbye.
at the end of 'The Giggle' there is what appears to be a very innocent and casual conversation between The Doctor (14) and Fam:
DOCTOR 14: Mmm...
ROSE: We could always go in the Tardis and find out.
SHAUN: Don't you dare.
DONNA: You are grounded until the Doctor feels better. Don't go sneaking off to Mars.
ROSE: Again.
DONNA: What does that mean?
DOCTOR 14: Oh, no. It was just once. Oh, you're in trouble.
so while this all seems just like a bit of fun between family, we now know that Sutekh was hidden away within the TARDIS since the end of 'Pyramids of Mars' and that dialogue between characters or just words worked into the background in the series is often clues to future events... and a lot of events have happened on Mars:Pyramids of Mars
The Christmas Invasion
The Waters of Mars
The End of Time
Empress of Mars
The Vault of Secrets
Transmission from Mars
Red Dawn
The Judgement of Isskar
Red Planets

Green Mars Blues
Life on Mars on Mars

so if Mars still has to do with the direction that the 2nd half of the series will be headed, what could have D14 and Rose N. have done on Mars? what did D14 take Rose to see or do?
Extraordinary people have ordinary parents all the time & vice versa, especially when we look at the parallels between this 1st half of 15s season & 9s.still holding to my theory there is more to Ruby and that Rose (Noble) will play a part, as well as im hoping they work in Mia someway somehow in the show, to give us more details on The Doctor’s background or the Pantheon of Discord.

Re: Doctor Who
Bad Wolf wrote:
caught up? good I want to talk about this working theory I have about how the 15th Doctor will help restore the Time Lords.
- Spoiler:
-Discuss?/Thoughts?

so it hit me this morning, as i was getting ready for work,
- Spoiler:
- now that RTD has retconned that Sutekh was hiding within the heart of the TARDIS since the end of the Pyramids of Mars, when Rose absorbed the heart of the TARDIS and became Bad Wolf and wiped out the Daleks with a wave of her hand proclaiming "Everything Comes to Dust”
effectively making Sutekh < Rose < Bad Wolf < and during Empire of Death, what was Sutekh's "final form"? A jackal and what is a jackal if not a "Bad Wolf"
(and just for food for thought.. during the episode 'Day of the Doctor', The Moment takes the form and name of Bad Wolf to interact with The War Doctor, and of course D10 & D11 show up <and now their TARDIS/Sutekh> and hear:
(that was really Sutekh??)
and at the end of the 60th anniversary special, its mentioned that D14 and Rose (Noble) have been back and forth to Mars:Bad Wolf wrote:

and lets not forget there is another of the same TARDIS with D14, which by all rights should have the same Sutekh inside..
"The War Doctor: You’re the interface? The Moment: They must have told you the Moment had a conscience. Hello! Oh look at you. Stuck between a girl and a box. Story of your life, eh Doctor?
The War Doctor: You know me?The Moment: I hear you. All of you. Jangling around in that dusty old head of yours. I chose this face and form especially for you. It’s from your past. Or possibly your future. I always get those two mixed up.
The War Doctor: I don’t have a future. The Moment: I think I’m called… Rose Tyler. No. Yes, no. Sorry, no no. In this form, I’m called… Bad Wolf. Are you afraid of the big bad wolf, Doctor?"
