Doctor Who
First topic message reminder :
any one ?
now i am speaking of the current series, although if anyone has seen the original please feel free to discuss as it is nice to compare to the remake.
personally, i love it ^^ . i do remember the old BBC series that aired here in the US on PBS (Public Broadcast Station) now it took me a bit to get use to the changing of "The Doctor"
from series I to series II, i know that's how its supposed to work in the orig series, and in the comics (yes he had his own comic and appeared regularly with in the pages of Death's Head and .. *gasps* Transformers )
.. but on television with different actors .. its an adjustment
anyways ..
comments, thoughts .. discuss

- Spoiler:
- Hight Command @ MSN convo wrote:
Well the Titanic is NOT going to be the ship that sank in 1912.
It's a spaceship the trailer shows it orbiting a planet, possibly earth. and some missiles smashing into the side of it.
The bad dudes are going to be Angels with golden faces and halos and everything. they take the halos off and throw them like frisbees.
The guests on board the ship are mostly humans with a few aliens here and there. seems like there's going to be a small group the Doctor will be leading to safety as in a classic disaster movie.

Re: Doctor Who
S2 of Torchwood started yesterday and it was fecking awesome!
A lot more fun then any of the S1 episodes which had been quite a dreary affair IMO.
James Masters (Spike from BtVS) was pure win!

Re: Doctor Who
Sci Fi should get it around June or so, it starts in UK in I believe May.
After seeing Voyage of the Damned (this years christmas special) I gotta say, I liked it for the toss back to the really corny over the top years the show had where it was inintentionally funny. Shame they killed of Kylie Minogue though, she would have made a great co-star...

Re: Doctor Who
they used an old Timelord resurrection thing that stores the regenerations that are taken from a Timelord as punishment for a crime by the high councel, it was mentioned before they could bring timelords back from the deal with the device. so tahts not really "finding a way" to bring someone back to life.
also, the role she played was human not a timelord, and she was lost in a transport beam, she literally was taken out of existence and ended up scattered.

Re: Doctor Who
Yeah, i'm gonna miss Kylie (AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE OI! OI! OI!), but i still miss Rose more
I'm hoping that they do something better with this season, I'm not so sure i'd like the idea of them bringing back Cat Tate's character Donna, or if I'm really up for more Martha, cuz damn do I hate the idea of Freema as a companion, she should have stayed on Torchwood with Jack where she fits better. Oh well I got faith.

Re: Doctor Who
I always forget about restrictions on some people's work accounts and stuff, one of the downsides of working from home 80% of the time...
and yeah Sci Fi's got it as long as it runs, they're helping with budget, the show's budget comes from BCC Cardif, CBC in Canada, Sci Fi in the states (with BBC America and PBS getting them 18 months or so after original air dates). So they'll have it by June or so, right around the time the BBC run is finished for the year, it'll be standard issue airing, they start with the Christmas Special then go into the show from there. Its kind of the same set up BBC, CBC and BBC America have for Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
If you've not seen this years Christmas Special, its a pretty good mix of the really good new style and sort of a half tribute to the old style of over the top cheese passed off by talented actors as credible sci fi all rolled together in a send up to The Posiden Adventure (one of my favorite movies btw), that doesn't make it a bad episode, just don't be expecting "Dalek" or the family blood episodes level of writing here, still very enjoyable, plus, well, hello, Kylie Minogue...
