Posting this in 'Techromancy Exchange' due to the contents of the almanac.
The Black Veil as it stands now is purely a set of guidelines and moral suggestions. While it still serves as the backbone for the Sanguinarium and the new Order of the Strigoi Vii, it has also been adopted by numerous groups and individuals who share no affiliation whatsoever with either of these groups.
The very first version of the Veil appears in the 1998-1999 edition of the Vampyre Almanac and reads:
"Many elders are enforcing a tradition commonly known as the "Black Veil", a philosophy with several tenets. First and foremost its purpose is to keep sanguine secrets confidential among members of the Sanguinarium.
The central philosophy of the "Black Veil" revolves around 1) hospitality 2) unity of the family 3) prevention of negative media exploitation and fundamentalist attacks 4) maintaining the mystique of the vampyre aesthetic 5) inspiring chivalry & honor.
We are not devil worshipers. We are elegant, evolved individuals who enjoy an escape from the banalities of common existence.
In the case of a disagreement, one must never harm another sanguine physically and always resort to diplomacy to resolve issues. Punishment usually involves excommunication from a clan or the Sanguinarium for a period of time depending on the violation. Each local Sanguinarium and circles have their own version of the Black Veil, and it is generally expected for foreigners to familiarize themselves with the customs of the foreign Sanguinarium."
The almanac also contains details on Vampyre Folklore. I'll be posting those tid bits, as the month goes on. Stay tuned

Aniukha
This Mongolian myth results from Shaman, who in life once had the power to raise the dead and were somehow powerful enough to raise themselves in death. Disposing of Vampire involves driving long aspen stake through the corpse before cremation.
Asema or Soucouyen
Common in Surinam and Trinidad, this vampire takes the shape of an old man or woman with downward pointing toes and reddish eyes. They take off their skin and hide it under a mattamata before they go hunting. Free of their skin's binding shape they have the ability to take on the appearance of a blue ball of light that flies through the air in search of prey. Victims are recognizable by their red or blue marks from which their blood was sucked. To protect yourself you can use certain herbs and potions to turn your blood bitter or even throw rice or sesame seed mixed with the nails of a Ground Owl behind your door.
If the Asema is caught out of his skin, thn the sun will kill him. If you think someone is an Asema, try and find where they hide their skin and put salt on it to shrink it or pepper it so that the Asema wont be able to put it back on.
Bajang
The Bajang is a Malaysian vampire that results from heredity; if the victim born into a family whose ancestors have committed acts of evil. Bajang is gained by standing over the grave of a stillborn child and summoning the spirit. Acquired Bajang can be handed down through the family. Bajang is kept like a pet in a tabong and fed milk. When the master wishes to do ill, he can release the Bajang with instructions to kill or cause illness. After a witchhunt for a suspect, the sorcerer with control over the Bajang can be detected by placing him in a room adjacent to another room holding an iron bowl. If the sorcerer loses hair in the same spot that is shaven on the bowl, then he is guilty of holding control over a Bajang. The sorcerer is then killed.
Blautsauger or Totbeier of Nachtzatzler
This Bavarian vampire has ways to vitimize people who have not been baptized, or who have been witches or committed suicide. The Blautsaugers can leave their graves at night but must return before daybreak, otherwise the sunlight can destroy them. They look like pale human beings but have the ability to assume the form of a bat, wolf, snake and even a dog. A black dog with an extra pair of eyes painted onto the head is thought to scare off the vampire, but placing garlic on your windows and hawthorne around your house works just as well. Disposing of the Vampire: putting garlic in the mouth, Holy Water into the grave, a stake through the heart, and burning incense is enough to destroy the undead.
Baobhan Sith (Baa'van Shee)
These fairy vampires from Scotland arrive as beautiful troupes of women dressed in green with long blond hair. They dance with their victims, pricking wounds into them until they pass out with fatigue. Protecting yourself: keep iron near you. These vampires can be killed by cold iron or flame.
Ching Shih
This famous Chinese vampire has claws, red eyes, long hair, and greenish pallid coloring to the skin. The Ch'ing Shih gains its strength from the moon. To move, they must either fly or hop and their breath is poisonous. The only defense against this creature is to make a pile of rice. This vampire must count every single grain in every pile of rice they come across. To destroy it, make a circle of rice around the vampire and thread seven pieces of Jujuge into its back bone.

These hereditary vampire results from suicide or being unbaptized. Native to Romania and Hungary, these creatures are active mainly in the St. George and St. Andrew days. They can assume the form of many animals and will go out into the night seeking people with whom to fornicate. They leave no wounds on their victims.
Vlkodlak
This Serbian myth is tied to the werewolf mythology and results in being killed by a werewolf or eating lamb killed by one. Also committing such acts as perjury, murder, or even incest with one's own mother can result in a person becoming a Vlkodlak. They look like your typical drunkard. They are always older than the age of twenty and can remain as active as a vampire for up to seven years. After that they become human again and move to a new location to repeat the cycle. These vampires are also thought to have the ability to cause eclipses.
Disposing of the Vlkodlak: hammer a nail into the corpse's neck and cut off its fingers and toes. Drive a branch of hawthorne into the navel of the corpse and cover all hairy areas with tow. Then cremate the body with fire started by the very candles used in the vampire's death vigil.

They symptoms vary with each individual case. Porphyria is genetic in nature and pertains to a disorder in the production and or breaking down of porphyrins in the body.
