How to grow a new limb
or simpler put ... cloning
I watched this documentary over the weekend regarding the reports that were published in 2000 about the human genome
i had not realized we had come so far in our studies as a species from what makes up hair, eye, skin color .. down to isolating the specific genes that cause color blindness, diabetes, different types of cancer. amazing stuff
*
now the real debate - should it go further.. i am ALL for genetic tinkering and manipulation of ourselves
i am NOT for the privatising and commercializing of said discoveries. people should not own the right to sell or buy the right to build another human being.. *heh* ..that would be like putting a patent on the act intercourse

This is an editorial that I wrote a very long time ago, and am to this day still getting feed back on, and i figured since y'all seem to be up for a good serious discussion now and then, I'd share it with y'all... first a little about it, I was sitting at home bored one night, watching the news and seeing nothing but murders and rape and all these things, and I just thought "time for Laz to make a statement", so I sat down, I wrote out this bit of info, and went from there its not to belittle life as a whole or anything so much as to make ya kinda stop and take notice and really take stock of the world around ya... tell me what y'all think.

One of the interesting things they teach you in Alchemy, is the "mixture" for a human being. Here is a neat little fact to toss around at parties, or Temple, or Church, or a Barmitzpha somewhere...
Things you need to make a human being
Oxygen (65%) price: $ 125.00
Carbon (18%) price: $7.99 [pure charcoal btw]
Hydrogen (10%) Price: $10.98
Nitrogen (3%) Price: $22.26
Calcium/Lime (1.5%) Price: $21.24
Phosphorus (1.0%) Price: $17.53
Potassium (0.35%) Price: $17.53
Sulfur (0.25%) Price: $10.59
Sodium (0.15%) Price: $17.53
Magnesium (0.05%) Price: $33.79
Copper (0.70%) Price: $23.02
Zinc (0.70%) Price: $17.53
Selenium (0.70%) Price: $17.53
Molybdenum (0.70%) Price: $17.53
Fluoride (0.70%) Price: $14.62
Chloride (0.70%) Price: $11.13
Iodine (0.70%) Price: $16.70
Manganese (0.70%) Price: $26.34
Cobalt (0.70%) Price: $46.51
Iron (0.70%) Price: $7.88
Lithium (trace amounts) Price: $37.65
Strontium (trace amounts) Price: $27.14
Aluminum (trace amounts) Price: $51.70
Silicon (trace amounts) Price: $50.09
Lead (trace amounts) Price: $40.07
Vanadium (trace amounts) Price: $17.53
Arsenic (trace amounts) Price: $17.53
Bromine (trace amounts) Price: $52.59
Now that our shopping trip to the online chemistry store is complete and we are scared as hell that we can get all these things over the internet... seriously we can..go to this site and browse by chemical if ya don't believe me.. anyway, we need two more things for our "human soup" .. jumper cables and a car battery, since the "spark" of life is really just an electric pulse that's smaller voltage then the standard car battery (in most people its 10 volts, some it actually can get as high as 30) it will do nicely...
those will cost us.. $49.99 at Sears for the power jump starter that will serve needs as both cables and battery...
now, lets tally up our tab for the day total... it comes too.. $827.52 all together.
So.. next time someone asks you if you no the value of life, you'll now.
have fun kiddies, amaze your friends, astound love interests, scare the elderly, impress that goth guy or girl you had your eye on, make the preps ph34r you... whatever..
Alchemy 101 is done for today, I've been your teacher Professor Constantine, I'll see y'all later.
i am NOT for the privatising and commercializing of said discoveries. people should not own the right to sell or buy the right to build another human being.. *heh* ..that would be like putting a patent on the act intercourse

Re: How to grow a new limb
Total and 100% agreement.
(Im no scientist, but i do know a little about genetics from an ex-gf who had a degree in it.)
One of the biggest problems scientists here in the UK face is that over here, by law, we have to publish findings either in medical journals or on the internet. This means that unscupulous trypes (sorry but mainly americans...) tend to take this research, advance it slightly then slap a patent on it preventing any further work beong done by our medical commuity. This is especially true of environmental rearch, but as the pharmacuticals industry in the states is so lucrative its becoming a constant problem.
The fact that a scientific lab can patent its research purely for money making gain is abominable (look at the costs of the recent cancer drugs and the mark-up from lab -> medical institution -> patient.
As for genetic cloning, im all for it, id love to see millions of Psychout clones 'represent' all over the world!

yup, hate to say it * but over the last 50ish years the US has devolved
soley becuz ppl gave up * somewhere down the lines people became
more and more apathetic and well welcome to RISE of the Corporation - Welcome to Corporate America , a corporation based on wealth and greed, not based on ethics or honor
[rant]
Moral law is determined by what society finds ethical and accetable.
most forms of Corporate law violate moral law, but if a society agrees to or does not acknowledge or takes heed of corporate law, then corporate law takes effect above all else*
*see reference guide by name S.O.L
[/endrant]
and currently the good news is - take it as you will - the US has
major blockage against human dna experiments or such
i think thats becuz no one's yet found a solid way to make money off
it yet
so , ummmm, yeah - so ummm heh kinda like what we're here for
keep the exchange os such information free and open
yup - you bet, people will prob make mistakes, but dam, i'll sleep better knoing that some will not and well, the playing field will be level

The Price of "Human Life"
I can't recall if i posted this here or not, so I figured i'd give it a shot, NP if its somewhere else just delete this one ok? ... alright onto this... I wrote this like 3 years ago or abit more, getting fuzzy in my old age, as an editorial, it caused alot of shit, and well, here it is you all to be shocked and amazed at... hooray for alchemic tables!

Re: How to grow a new limb
Ummm.. sorry to break the bubble but even fi you had those ingriedients it would be almost-impossible to create the human body. Hvaing the materials is fine, however mixing then in correct amounts at a sub-atomic level would be hard, not mentioning the complex bondings that are required to create the human body. And even if you manage to do that, then you would have to egt chromosomes and toher genetic material to make the body function properly as well as making brain tissue that functions properly.
However if you jsut want A BODY that can;t do anything then it is a lot simpler.

Hmm, guess its my turn to break someone's bubble, you completely missed the point I was trying to make with the article. It has nothing to do with making a human body, it was ment to show that from a logical stand point, human beings aren't as priceless as people think we are, and that sadly, in a consumer world, there are many things cost more then the combined things that make up a human body, various materialistic things; cars, televisions, computers and such.
I wrote it as a statement and intentionally left it to stand on its own to see how many people would pick up on it being a statement on how greedy and status symbol and price tag driven the world is, instead of taking it in a literal since as a way of tossing stuff in an easy bake oven and making a person from it.

How to grow a new limb
a little tib bit i found to add to the mix:

There is some evidence of this latent capacity in humans. Children under the age of 11 have been known to regrow severed fingertips, although no one has yet identified the pathway involved

Re: How to grow a new limb
i think i'll contribute to this aswell
All the reasons why i'm for human cloning
Human cloning might produce many benefits. Human therapeutic cloning could provide genetically identical cells for regenerative medicine, and tissues and organs for transplantation.[citation needed] Such cells, tissues, and organs would neither trigger an immune response nor require the use of immunosuppressive drugs.[citation needed] Both basic research and therapeutic development for serious diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, as well as improvements in burn treatment and reconstructive and cosmetic surgery, are areas that might benefit from such new technology.[citation needed]
Human reproductive cloning
also would produce benefits. Antinori and Zavos hope to create a
fertility treatment that allows parents who are both infertile to have
children with at least some of their DNA in their offspring.[citation needed]besides the more we advance in this part of science will infact lead to other things if we can clone other people then why stop their why not try to clone other animals
