Torchwood
First topic message reminder :
i know u got your own thoughts on this Laz .. but I'm gonna watch it. my only real ??
How the hell did Capt Jack get out of the 31st ce ? Last we saw, Rose (and the Doctor) left him on (a dead) Satellite V.
Torchwood is a science fiction drama television program, created by Russell T. Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction series Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked. On 12 December 2006, the BBC announced that it was commissioning a second series. The program is produced in-house by BBC Wales, whose Head of Drama Julie Gardner serves as executive producer alongside Davies.
The first two episodes of Torchwood premiered on 22 October 2006 at 9 p.m. on BBC Three and BBC HD with all subsequent episodes of the first series shown at 10 p.m. every Sunday evening; each episode was repeated on BBC Two every Wednesday at 9 p.m. The post-watershed airings provide more adult content than found in the traditionally family-oriented Doctor Who. The second series started filming in Spring 2007 and will premiere exclusively on BBC Two in early 2008.

Re: Torchwood
I loved "Fragments" it was great to get some background on the whole cast and stuff, even the dinosaur!
Just two things though... if Owen is dead now, and he's "fragile" as they said the other episode and stuff, how come he wasn't hurt in the explotion, with all the rubble and stuff he was under? I mean Tosh got hurt really bad, Yanto was scratched up, Jack healed obviously, but the dead guy who could break at any point in time is unhurt under all of that mortar and stuff? Also, Jack said in his last appearance on Who, that he came through the Rift in the 1990s because he got to watch Rose grow up, but this shows him on earth waiting for the doctor in the 1800s not long after Torchwood was formed by the Queen.
Also, I believe this was the first time they ever officially mentioned The Doctor on the show. Jack always said "A Doctor" or "A Certain Type of Doclor", but in his backstory, he kept saying "The Doctor" outright.

Re: Torchwood
so.. yeah, me and mia just finished watching the final episode of this season, and my god I was right it was really heavy and worth the wait of two weeks... all of my doubts and questions and everything about this series is completely gone, Series 2, totally better then series 1 by (eve) miles, i didn't see it coming and it just hit me in the face like a sack of bricks, I ain't been this blindsided sense the end of Afterlife.... I'm really waiting to see how series 3 will play out...
and now for those who wanna read spoilers....
this was an amazing episode, on part with most of series 2 and "Random Shoes" the best episode (I think anyway) from series 1. They did an amazing job this series bringing the secondary cast in more and giving complete histories for each character making them less one dimentional, really well done.
and now for those who wanna read spoilers....
- Spoiler:
- Jack's younger brother Gray forces John Hart (from earlier in the series, the guy who played Spike on Buffy) to blow various points in the city, literally crippling it, no phones, net, radio, television, CCTV, or power of any sort left running, as a way of distracting the team, and transporting Jack back to 27AD, there he stabs him and buries him in a grave in what will later be a church yard in Cardif centre, leaving him to literally die thousands of times between 27AD and 1901, when some Torchwood agents of that time discover a beacon which John slipped into Jack's grave, finding this, the agents dig Jack up, after explaining to them he's the same Jack thats working for Torchwood in 1901 and he's crossed his own timeline and he can't see or meet himself at that time, Jack explains they need to freeze him with a time lock set to unlock on a date he gives them in 2008. Gray appears at the Hub and sets himself into a nice hiding spot and waits.
Gwen makes it back to the hub and finds John there waiting for her, after explaining he was forced to blow up the city by Gray because of a bomb bonded to his arm, and that now that Jack's buried (they think) he was free to go, his only thought was to help bring Jack back, Gray, from his hiding place sets the Weevels loose with a signal, letting them rampage the city in the wake of the explotions, Owen runs to a nucular power station to try and prevent a meltdown, he explains that given that he's dead the Weevels will leave him alone. Yanto and Tosh get back to the hub and are helping to contain the Weevels that were held there, John, Gwen and Yanto get locked in the containment cells by Gray who comes out of hiding and taunts them. Tosh is at her concole trying to shift backup power to the nuke plant where Owen is so he can vent the system and stop the meltdown, as she gets back up power online, she's shot through the stomache by Gray, she drops to the ground and is bleeding baddly, Owen's screaming her name trying to get her to respond, nothing. Gray kicks her portable thing she uses for detecting rifts and stuff down into the medical bay and leaves her for dead. She literally rolls herself down to get it and after a shot in the leg of a painkiller, she's able to get back to Owen, its to late, the core is gonna go critical, Owen is sealed off inside the containment room at the reactor and as he's screaming "I've already died once, I don't want to die again" and raging at the top of his lungs Tosh is crying with him to stop, the two of them spend Owen's last minutes alive together, and with out saying it outright express they love each other, there is a flash of light, Owen says "Tosh... its ok... everything will be alright.." and as the room goes into Meltdown, Owen dies.
Jack comes out of freeze status and has a huge yelling match with his brother, who he knocks out and seals in a freeze pod till he can figure what to do with him. He then goes about freeing everyone else, they find Tosh laying on the floor of the medical bay bleeding to death, Jack and Gwen try to save her, but its to late, Tosh dies in Jack's arms. The rest of the episode is showing Yanto, Gwen, Rhyse and Jack dealing with the deaths of Owen and Gwen, Jack packs up Owen's things and puts them in a case, Gwen puts all of Tosh's stuff in a simular case, and Yanto inputs their death records into Torchwood's system, they're all crying as they do it. Once Tosh's info is put in, a video appears, its Tosh saying her final good byes and telling them its alright and not to be sad. Gwen says she doesn't know if she can go on doing this, Jack said its things like this that fuel you, and make you keep going on, and that at the end, there is always a new begining. The camera pans out on the three of them in the hub together.
thoughts...? tosh was awesome and its sad she's gone, owen became great after he died, but also said he's gone, but maybe with his leaving, Martha will come back for series 3?

Re: Torchwood
From what we were reading....
I'd rather K-9 too... or maybe that kid with the computer interface in his head that went to Satilite 5 with The Doctor and Rose back in series 1...
- Spoiler:
- Sarah Jane and Jack meet at the end of this series of Who, and get all hot and heavy for each other, and he brings her onboard at Torchwood (with or with out K-9 we've read both) and they make abunch of milf jokes given her having that cloned kid she adopted from the first episode of her show... apparently the british have a horrible definition of the term milf if thats what they're gonna do.. its also gonna pee on just how awesomely good series 2 of Torchwood was...

Re: Torchwood
- Spoiler:
- well Sarah Jane isn't dead, she and the rest of the main characters in the who universe are alive, not sure where you got that from 0.o The Doctor didn't regenerate he just used the engery to heal himself then filtered the rest into that severed hand, that gets all complicated and kind of stupid and answers the half assed shit "ending" they gave rose.... blah....
anyway, at the end of Who's season, you find out that The Torchwood Hub has what is called a temperal lock on it, meaning Gwen and Yanto were safe and inside when the Dalek's came in, they're literally outside of time, the dalek and the bullets they were firing at it all frozen in time. So they're safe, they basically wait out the rest of the episode of who till Jack unlocks the temperal lock.
Once Jack leaves the Tardis he's show walking off with Martha and Mickey Smith, Sarah Jane walks off to go home to be with Luke and K9 but you can see the hint of something between her and Jack. so its unclear if she'll make it to Torchwood but the going belief is that Micky and Martha will fill Owen and Tosh's spots on the team.
there you go.
