Torchwood
Torchwood is a science fiction drama television program, created by Russell T. Davies and starring John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal with supernatural occurrences. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction series Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked. On 12 December 2006, the BBC announced that it was commissioning a second series. The program is produced in-house by BBC Wales, whose Head of Drama Julie Gardner serves as executive producer alongside Davies.
The first two episodes of Torchwood premiered on 22 October 2006 at 9 p.m. on BBC Three and BBC HD with all subsequent episodes of the first series shown at 10 p.m. every Sunday evening; each episode was repeated on BBC Two every Wednesday at 9 p.m. The post-watershed airings provide more adult content than found in the traditionally family-oriented Doctor Who. The second series started filming in Spring 2007 and will premiere exclusively on BBC Two in early 2008.

Re: Torchwood
Jack explains it when he appears in the end of series three of Doctor Who actually, so you'll get your answer in just afew weeks, its actually a very touching moment between him and The Doctor, even if you get emo moments with that annoying martha woman listening in.
See, my thing with Torchwood is, the premise was good, its just it fell to far on pushing secondary agendas that it lost the plot somewhere in there, I just warn people so they know what they're getting into. I mean the the second episode involves hunting down an alien that feeds off orgasim energy and how they have to stop it from having sex with men and women all over Cardiff before it kills the host girl its in.... its just... dunno.
However if you are gonna sit through the whole series. "Random Shoes" is the best episode in the series, and thats like episode 9.

Re: Torchwood
ok .. plot hole and i know why but still ..
when that cop is trying to hunt down Cpt Jack, they say "there was a Capt Jack (American) who disapeared during the height of the blitz in 1941"
this of course refering to that ep of Doctor Who - where we first me Cpt Jack .. however ... in that eps he was a [i]SS[i] Capt. this is shown twice (never actually said mind you due to European law)
other than that ... 1st eps not so bad.

Then that doesnt make sence .. in the 1st eps Jack says he cant die due to what happened to him (long ago ... ie Satilite V and the 'Bad Wolf' saga oO) and that he is looking for the "right kind of Doctor" to tell him what's what ...
if that's not the same Jack ... then who is he ??
ok .. wait .. i might be confused .. they just have the same name then ?

Re: Torchwood
the Jack we know explains that in that same episode.
I gotta ask, I heard there is no edits done in the BBC America version of Torchwood? Is that true? all the swears and the nudity and sex and stuff are there still?

Re: Torchwood
well the first one didn't have any, but did they air the first two as a movie? thats what they did in the UK, the second episode has this kind of cute but under age looking girl that was possessed by an alien that feeds off the energy released in an orgasim and turns the men she uses for this to dust? there is a light sex scene mixed with a creepy bit of an old security guard having a toss wile watching it on a CCTV camera... if they showed all that, they might actually show all the sex and nudity...
odd they left all the swears intact, because they toss "fuck" and "shit" around an awfull lot. And I know when BBC America aired the Trailer Park Boys, this rather awesome canadian show that I LOVE, they bleeped all the swears out of that... wonder what got'um to allow it.

Re: Torchwood
haha... yeah I thought that at the begining too... i'm just hoping season 2 is better honestly. I did like the characters, and the concept, i just, well, as i've stated before, in final product alot of that gets lost to the writers attempting to make it basically network friendly porn.

caught it in a reRun
it was about alien tech that amplifies the echo of emotional moments.
Then they had the 'Cyberwoman' eps
that one was pretty interesting

Re: Torchwood
Oh i was hoping you'd get a chance to see them early, I have to admit, I'm really liking season 2, its not all weird and alien sex like last season, this one's like a real season, like a really good bonified show.
And yeah, I like Martha better fitting here then she is with the Doctor, I can see her coming on the series by season 3, she makes a good addition and actually helps make Jack less standoff like, which is pretty cool.

so we just finished watching episode 9 of series 2, Gwen's wedding, I really like how much this show has grown and isn't just random people shagging random aliens and each other anymore, its starting to finally take a life of its own and its really really funny.
also, Reese with a chainsaw in an homage to Evil Dead.... ALWAYS will be awesome...
