It is a refreshing retake on the old webhead. Especially since they're using 'Gwen Stacy' as Peter's lab partner and "crush". Flash's charater is pretty on target.

The flatness of the animation however reminds me of Megas, not a bad thing, just making note.

they're using Gwen because she'll be the love interest in the next spidey movie if they make it.... and also because the comics did that assinine "One More Day" thing and got rid of MJ..

In the comics it's now canon that Peter's entire relationship with Mary Jane never happened. They met, dated, and she rejected him. As a result of the chaos from this cluster fuck of a decision several charecters that were dead are now alive. Harry Osborn is alive, a recovering drug addict and he manages a coffee shop. Oh and he dumped the love of his life Liz. Peter's broke and living with Aunt May who is also not dead. And they made her a giant bitch because she can't wait for Peter to move out.

I can't see any good coming from this storyline. It's convolted as fuck. If they wanted Peter to be single they could have done it realisticly and have them divorce. But no, they bring in Mephisto and have Peter make a bargin. But not at the cost of his soul. No it's at the cost of his marriage with Mary Jane. It makes no sense. Mephisto is Marvel's Satan and he lusts after the souls of the innocent. The only reason that Mephisto would do something like this is if he thinks that the end result will eventually win him Peter's soul anyway.

Anytime girlie. My gripe with the story is it makes no sense to me. Like I said they should have done it realisticly without fucking around with continuity. Because whether they realise it or not it affects a large chunk of Marvel's continuity. I especially hate the tag line "Don't look back to the past but look foward to the future." It's as if they're saying "Screw continuity and making sense we're going to wing it." Laughing

The only Marvel storyline I'm looking forward to is the Secret Invasion. It's been planned for years, and the storyline is this: ever since the Kree/Skrull war there have been Skrull agents in hiding on earth...disguised as Superheroes and Supervillains.

But back on subject, I haven't seen this cartoon but I saw the toys for it in Wal-Mart the other day. And they looked pretty awesome. My girlfriend said that the show is pretty cool. So maybe if I can wake up early enough I'll give it a watch. Or more likely I'll find some blank video tapes somewhere and dig out my vcr and record it. Laughing

/
and o yes.. this cartoon is awsome, especially at reIntroducing all the classic spidey villians

Re: The Spectacular Spider-Man

Yah I been watching this I really like it, sort of an Xmen Evolution take on Spidey, which is gonna be followed pretty soon with Wolverine and the Xmen, which is well, a new show in the style of Evolution I guess... or a continuation, no one's really sure...

as for One More Day, seriously its the stupidest story ever, I mean for god sake, Peter gave up his marrage and completely fucked up the entire 616 timeline going all the way back to 1972 or something all so his 100 and something year old Aunt May could be alive again, yeah nothing says "hey fuck you MJ, thanks for the sex and understanding" more then that, the whole "if you make the world forget who Spiderman is, I'll make it worth your while" comment she did? Yeah thats it, make one of the best written non-hero characters in comics a whore while you're at it. Way to go.

its like, everyone forgets, yes Spiderman is the "youth" character, he's supposed to be the one that all the younger folks wanna be like, I get that, but what, they're supposed to look up to a guy that would literally throw away his entire life just so his older then dust aunt who really needs to just die perminately, can come back to life and be a complete bitch? The younger folk aren't supposed to think "you know what, even though I'm the skinny nerdy guy who everyone picks on, its possible that I can get the hot girl and live happily ever after just like Spiderman" anymore? they're supposed to be all "I'm gonna live in my aunt's house for the rest of my life" now? yeh way to have something to look forward too. I understand the whole "the youth character should be someone every age group can ID with" thing, but fucking hell, characters NEED to grow up, you can't keep readers if the characters are 16 forever, just ask Archie comics. Spiderman needed to grow up, just like Cyclopes and Jean Gray did, just like The Hulk did, just like Rick Jones, and so many others. it didn't ruin the character, it just gave him more depth.

And this whole "lets fuck 30+ years of marvel history up only so we can retcon it a year or so later and explain it all with magic" crap is bullshit.
