Lestat's Words (poem)
Cold black moonlit sky,
gentle breeze blowing through
the open window of the newly
reconstructed Rue Royale.
Drifting back through the images
of my mind, I think back to the
old days, of when Louis,
my immortal lover, and Claudia
my beutifull, sentiuos Vampiric
daughter, my betrayer, my
conscience.
Moveing past the pain, to
memories of Marrius, my mentor,
the ancient master who
made Armand, my greatest
advasary, my greatest companion,
My dearest mother, Gabrielle,
who gave me mortal life,
whom I gave immortal death
out of lonliness, love, and
greed,
Nicholas, my beutifull Nicki,
who jumped head first first
into maddness as well as his
own funeral pyer, may he find
the peace that he deserved.
Rest well my friend, my
mortal lover.
David, my dearest David, forgive
me for I have sinned greatly.
I greedily forced upon you
the "Dark Gift" out of pure lust
and selfishness.
Decending deeper into more
recent memories, I think
of the first brood,
Maharet and Mekare, the
twins, whose hair is fire
in the gleaming twilight,
to Eric, Mael, and Khayman,
may you "live" to see another
two thousand,
To the great Mother and Father, burn
in hell for unleashing this
terror upon creation, damn you,
thank you---away!!
I would weep for you all,
and light a candle in all
of your names, but I think
not.
I light a candle for me,
"yes for the Vampire Lestat,
that little candle, that
miraculas tiny candle,
increasing by the small amount
all the light in the universe;
And burrning in an empty church
the night long among the little
flames. It would be burning on
the morrow when the faithful
came; when the sun shone through
these doors.
Keep your vigil, little candle,
in the darkness and in sunshine
Yes, for me."

This poem would not have been possible with out the writtings of Anne Rice. Who is respnsible for bringing us these characters in the vampire chronicles.
